Non-invasive/Non- surgical Lunch-time treatments

Vascular skin lesions

Vascular skin lesions are common types of skin conditions that affect many people. These lesions are caused by an abnormal growth of blood vessels in the skin, which can lead to red, purple, or blue discolouration on the skin’s surface. Vascular skin lesions can range from minor, harmless blemishes to larger, more significant conditions that require medical attention. Our clinic offers a range of treatments for vascular skin lesions, including laser therapy.

Vascular skin lesions are caused by an abnormal growth of blood vessels in the skin. They can be present at birth or acquired over time. They can appear anywhere on the body and vary in size and shape. Some of the most common types of vascular skin lesions include:

  1. Haemangiomas: Haemangiomas are a type of vascular lesion that appears as a red, raised area on the skin. They are caused by an overgrowth of blood vessels and can be present at birth or appear shortly after. Most haemangiomas disappear on their own without any treatment, but some may require medical attention.

  2. Port Wine Stains: Port wine stains are a type of vascular lesion that appears as a pink or red discolouration on the skin. They are caused by dilated blood vessels and are usually present at birth. Port wine stains can grow larger over time and may require treatment if they affect a large body area.

  3. Spider Veins: Spider veins are a type of vascular lesion that appears as a group of small blood vessels on the skin’s surface. They are most commonly found on the face and legs and are usually caused by increased pressure in the blood vessels.

  4. Cherry Angiomas: Cherry angiomas are a type of vascular lesion that appears as a small, bright red bump on the skin. They are caused by an overgrowth of blood vessels, most commonly found on the chest.

Treatment Options for Vascular Skin Lesions

We offer a range of treatments for vascular skin lesions, including laser therapy and sclerotherapy.

  1. Laser Therapy: Laser therapy is a non-invasive treatment that uses high-energy light to target the blood vessels in the skin. The blood vessels absorb the laser energy, causing them to break down and be absorbed by the body. Laser therapy is a safe and effective treatment for many vascular skin lesions, including spider veins, cherry angiomas, and port wine stains.

  2. Surgical Excision: In some cases, surgical excision may be necessary to remove large vascular lesions. This procedure involves cutting out the affected skin area and stitching the surrounding skin together.

Before any treatment is recommended, our consultant surgeon will evaluate the type and severity of the vascular skin lesion. Depending on the lesion’s size, location, and nature, a personalized treatment plan will be developed to achieve the best possible outcome.
